HIH & Partners launched a bespoke campaign centered around Wellness & Ancestral Superfoods with a series of flagship events across 2026. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about our event on 18 June.

Gastronomy is a cultural expression of the world’s natural and cultural diversity. On June 18, we celebrate Sustainable Gastronomy Day and acknowledge that everyone plays a role in making sustainable choices for healthy diets and a food-secure future. In Amman, we celebrate this special day with a bespoke sunset dinner prepared by five leading chefs, an artisan baker, an award‑winning olive oil sommelier, and culinary students. Each dish revolves around an ancestral superfood, and each course carries a sustainable gastronomy value.
To mark Sustainable Gastronomy Day, Hospitality in Health (HIH) and Luminus Technical University College (LTUC) are launching Jordan’s first Sustainable Cooking Competition that runs from 18 June to October 2026.

Chef Samah Hajahjeh: “Nature knows the right timing. Like a mother, it gives generously—never rushed, never excessive—only what the season is ready to offer. We honor this rhythm, treating the earth not as a resource, but as a sacred trust to be carried forward for generations to come.”

Previous Event on 18 June 2023
We asked four exemplary Jordanian chefs to craft four dishes telling the story of our four core values for sustainable gastronomy: Health Cuisine, Environmental Stewardship, Responsible Innovation, and Socio-Economic Impact. All key ingredients on the menu were 100% local and 100% seasonal, sourced from eleven different Jordanian suppliers.
Purpose
On 21 December 2016, the UN General Assembly adopted its resolution A/RES/71/246 and designated 18 June as an international observance for Sustainable Gastronomy Day. The decision acknowledges gastronomy as a cultural expression related to the natural and cultural diversity of the world. Celebrating seasonal ingredients and producers, preserving wildlife, as well as our culinary traditions is today more relevant than ever.
